NOTICE – Increase in Water Rates

The City of Houston has previously announced that it will begin progressively increasing its groundwater reduction plan (GRP) fee in April of each year, beginning in 2022 and extending through 2026. On April 1, 2026, the City of Houston increased the GRP fee that you see as a separate line item on your water bill every month by 3.7%. Therefore, please be advised that the fee imposed by the District in connection with such GRP fee will increase from $2.95 to $3.11 per 1,000 gallons of water used each month, effective as of April 20, 2026.

As a reminder, the City of Houston charges the District GRP fees based upon the amount of water pumped from the District’s water well. The District passes the GRP fees through to the District’s users based on the amount of water they use and for water loss. For additional information regarding the GRP, visit the “Resources” tab at the top of this page.
